Singapore – New minimum salary threshold for employment passes announced

What’s new?

The Ministry of Manpower has announced that the minimum monthly qualifying salary for new and renewal employment pass applications will increase, from 1 January 2025 and 1 January 2026, respectively.

The minimum monthly qualifying salary will increase as follows:

  • applicants working in the financial sector: from at least 5,500 SGD per month to at least 6,200 SGD per month; and
  • applicants working in other sectors: from at least 5,000 SGD per month to at least 5,600 SGD per month.

So, what should employers do now?

Employers who sponsor foreign professionals through employment passes should plan accordingly to manage any impacts for existing and future hires in Singapore. If you need any support with this, or would like any further information, please get in touch with a member of the MDR ONE team.
