Mishcon de Reya launches MDR ONE – a global employment law support business

Mishcon de Reya LLP has launched MDR ONE – a service and data led business providing multinational companies with centralised global employment law support.

Mishcon de Reya LLP has launched MDR ONE – a service and data led business providing multinational companies with centralised global employment law support. This is the newest evolution of the business that was formerly housed within the Taylor Vinters international law firm until its recent merger with Mishcon de Reya.

MDR ONE supports HR and legal teams within multinational companies to access consistent legal support anywhere in the world, helping them to feel more in control. Through the MDR ONE model, the team services clients’ needs across more than 120 countries as one integrated service, with one relationship, one point of contact and one point of invoicing. It also provides legal and HR teams with self-service portals to triage incoming matters, freeing them up on routine matters without compromising risk management, as well as data capture and reporting tools to enable better management of legal spend.

The new business sits within The Mishcon de Reya Group and is headed by partner Jo Edgley, an international employment lawyer. Jo joined the firm in January 2023 as part of Mishcon de Reya’s merger with Taylor Vinters. The MDR ONE team, led by Jo, comprises a group of experienced employment lawyers who focus solely on international mandates, and are based in London and Singapore. It is a unique team and business in the international legal market and operates its innovative ONE model to service clients across four core offerings:

  • Day-to-day HR: Providing HR teams with fast and reliable global employment law support on both routine people matters and more complex HR issues via a single point of contact, saving them the time and inconvenience of contacting different lawyers in different countries.
  • Advisory projects: Partnering with HR and legal teams on the development and roll-out of multi-jurisdictional projects, from workforce transformation initiatives and compliance projects to documentation such as employment contracts and handbooks.
  • M&A support: Delivering global and regional employment law support to transactional legal teams, whether in-house or external counsel, in relation to increasingly complex multinational M&A transactions, including both acquisitions and disposals.
  • Employment litigation: Providing strategic management of global employment litigation matters and access to local litigation counsel.

Kevin Gold, executive chair at Mishcon de Reya, said: “As our client base becomes increasingly global and more sophisticated, and our clients’ needs become more complex, we must continue to evolve our legal and commercial offerings. MDR ONE transforms the way that in-house HR and legal teams manage their global employment needs, helping to drive efficiency across their international legal operations. It is an innovative and complementary addition to The Mishcon de Reya Group, sitting alongside our core legal operation with our other group businesses: MDR Brand Management, MDR Cyber, MDR Discover, MDR Lab, MDR Mayfair and MDRxTech.”

Jo added: “We are delighted to take our business to the next level with Mishcon de Reya. We’ve long been innovating in the way that global employment support is delivered to in-house teams and HR professionals, and now combined with the capabilities and expertise of Mishcon de Reya, we can accelerate our ability to help business leaders feel more in control over their global legal operations.”
